It all began during a visit from my mother to Canada. That day, she prepared her famous Konparèt recipe—a delicious treat with spiced aromas that instantly transported me back to my childhood memories. I could see again those summers spent in Pestel, by her side in her workshop, where I helped her make this iconic delicacy from Grand’Anse. A pastry as generous as it is exotic, steeped in tradition and love.
From that emotion came the desire to share this unique culinary experience and introduce it to my community. Saveurs de Pestel and Konparèt Madan Jak are a tribute to my mother, Evelyne Ferrari Bernard—better known as Madan Jak. An exceptional woman and passionate entrepreneur, she passed on her energy, generosity, and hospitality to her family and everyone around her.
Today, it is with humility and pride that I carry on her recipe, staying true to her methods, to delight your taste buds and take you on a journey. Konparèt Madan Jak is an invitation to the heart of Haiti’s west coast, into the rich flavors of Pestel, a warm and welcoming town in Grand’Anse.
